I can't be the only one who thinks these two actresses look alike.  ... What do you think?

Hayden Panettiere and Katerina Graham

Hayden Panettiere and Katerina Graham

Can you tell who is who in these pics?  I'll tell you later in the post.

Guess who is who?
I think they look alike.  You can see it even more when you see them acting.  The similarities don't end there:

       Hayden Leslie Panettiere:
          TV and Movies
Born:  August 21, 1989
Height:  5'2"
TV Series:  Heroes;  2006-2010
Character: Cheerleader with superpowers
Official Website

       Katerina (Kat) Alexandre Graham:
          TV and Movies
Born:  (weeks after Hayden) September 5, 1989

Height:  (I found two answers) 5'2" or 5'4"
TV Series:  The Vampire Diaries (CW);  2009-present
Character: Witch with superpowers
Official Blog

I really like both these actresses. They are both very talented.  I hope to see their work for many years.  They should really do a movie together... hmmm.

You know I love The Vampire Diaries.  (Actually, I'm pretty angry that I don't get the CW anymore so I'll have to find a new way to get my fix.  (Damn, DirectTV!!!)  I can't watch but you should.

I was also all about the first two seasons of Heroes.

So did you look at the pictures above?  Do you know which actress is which?

Ok, well, I was trying to trick you.  The pictures are both of Katerina Graham.  Really, no lie.  Google it.  Did I trick you?

I purchased my domain name through Blogger. (Yes, I'm a Blogger fan)  When I view my blog through my Blogger Dashboard, I get the "Your blog is in Transition" message and it should work for everyone "after at most 3 days".

While searching to make sure I did everything right, I came across horror stories... "transition" for 11 days, whole blogs disappearing, no blog redirection.  I'm getting a little nervous.  Who am I kidding?  I've been nervous from the get go.

By purchasing through Blogger, I thought they did all the work.  Now I'm starting to wonder....

How do I know I'm error free? How can I see my blog's transition status? Is there something else I should be doing? How long before my blogspot blog is redirected to my .com blog? Will they let me know or do I have to just keep checking?

Then there's this Google Apps thing.  Will I need it to manage my blog or just my domain?

All I wanted was a smooth transition.  Is that too much to ask?

Instead... my blog is... in transition... for at most 3 days.... and today is day 3.

As always, I'd appreciate any help / tips / recommendations you may have for me.  Please feel free to email me at:

My son ( C ) wanted a shake.  So, flying by the seat of my pants, away I went.  I took the lid off my Ninja and started throwing things in.  It turned out awesome!

I wish I would have written down exact measurements but what can I say.... when inspirations hits... stand back.
We loved this chocolate shake.  McDonalds drive-thru is a thing of the past.... at least for shakes.  : )

Not only did we save money on gas and McDonalds shakes; I'm sure we saved on calories as well.

Makes 3 Medium Shakes

       Ingredients:

LowFat Frozen Yogurt - 2.5 cups
Chocolate Nestle Nesquik Powder - 1/2 cup
2% Milk - 2.5 cups
Ice - 1/2 cup

       Directions:
Start with yogurt, pile it in and blend away.  Don't forget these were not exact measurements so you may need to tweek it.

       Next Time:
I think I'll try strawberry Nestle Nesquik Powder and add frozen strawberries.

Just a few cookbooks
I have many cookbooks (maybe too many) and the cutest little recipe book ever. I’ve had it forever and really should replace it but I have yet to find one I love as much. This is where I keep all the recipes I frequently use.

I also keep a 3 subject notebook along with the other books. It’s nothing fancy, just a $1.50 Family Dollar notebook.

The first notebook section I use for menu plans/ideas. So when I’m not really sure what to make, I go to that first section and see what looks good.

The second section I use for first time recipes. I write the recipe name, where I got it from, ingredients and directions I used, including tips. I’ll also note the dish results and things I need to change the next time I make that recipe. When I’m satisfied with the results I’ll write that recipe in my sweet cutesy recipe book.

The last section is where I write down recipes I’d like to try/look up. Kinda like a To Do list for cooking – have I told you I’m a list girl? One recipe that had been on that list was crock-pot lasagna… done. I also have chicken noodle soup on the list… haven’t done it yet.

So, does anyone have a good chicken noodle soup recipe?  Please leave me a comment to the link or send me an email at: moremilestones(at)yahoo

Don't forget to come back for Saturday Suggestions to link up your go-to recipe and thumbnail.

Picture of Jessica Seinfeld's Lasagna
I saw this recipe for crock-pot lasagna awhile ago on the Oprah Winfrey Show. It was Jessica Seinfeld’s recipe.  (The picture is of her lasagna)

I made so many changes to her recipe it's hardly the same - so you may want to try both.

You’ll find my recipe below. Followed by tips, results and what I plan to do next time I make this recipe.... Yup, there will be a next time.

       Ingredients:
Crushed Tomatoes - 2 cans (24oz)
Garlic Cloves – 5, finely chopped
Onion – ½, finely chopped
Baby Spinach – 5oz finely chopped
Ground Turkey – 1lb
Pepper – couple of pinches
Salt - whatever
Oregano – couple of pinches
Mrs. Dash’s Italian Medley – couple of pinches
Ricotta – 15oz
Cottage Cheese – 15oz
Parmesan – ¼ cup
Mozzarella – 3 cups
Lasagna Noodles – 1 box cut to fit

       Directions:
Mix tomatoes, garlic, onion, baby spinach and spices – reserve ½ cup.

Combine ground turkey and more spices. Pinch small pieces off and add to sauce mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix ricotta, cottage cheese, Parmesan and ½ of mozzarella.

Spread reserved ½ cup sauce in bottom of slow cooker. Top with 3 of the noodles (breaking to fit). Top noodles with sauce then cheese mixture. Repeat two more times finishing with sauce and second ½ of mozzarella on top.

       Cook Time:
3 hrs on high - Cook until noodles are tender enough in center to poke a knife through.

Tips:
I used my Ninja to do all the chopping – garlic, onion, spinach. Because I like the taste of onion but not the texture I really chopped up that onion good… well, the Ninja did. I also really chopped up the spinach so my family wouldn’t know it was in there.

Results:
The sauce smelled and tasted great. The color was dark because of the spinach... something Gman thought was gross but didn't make a difference when eating.  I don’t know how I managed to do it but I ended up using 2 crocks. I only filled each up ½ to ¾...guess that's how.
It turned out great because M was over and I sent him home with leftovers. Gman also took some to work the next day. All lasagna was gone within 24 hrs. It was delicious and even better the next day.  They loved it.  I even got a text from M later that night saying thanks and he loved it.  I will definitely be making it again.

Next Time:
I’ll use ½ of the spinach and maybe more cottage cheese.  I may even just layer the small pinched pieces of ground turkey instead of adding to sauce... not sure yet. I will also start it up earlier in the day, fill up the large crock and cook on low. Then I’ll know how long it will take to do it that way.  Ill also take a picture to post before the boys dig in.

This will be my next dish to pass at our next work potluck.

Please come back for Saturday Suggestions to link up your go-to recipe and thumbnail.

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading my blog.

I've always kept a journal and fell into blogging by accident.  I actually started my blog on MySpace to keep far away friends and relatives in the loop of my crazy life.

I can't remember how I came across the blogging world but I am so glad I did.  I've met so many great bloggers and read tons of blogs.
My readers just hit 200 and I can't tell you how exciting that is for me.  Although, I know many of you have way over 200 followers, I never imagined anyone reading MY thoughts, rants, breakdowns... much less coming back for more.

Thanks for sticking with me.

My next blogging milestone will be to get a home of my own (domain that is) and new paint and furniture (blog design)... although I don't know when.

I'd appreciate any help / tips / recommendations you may have for me.  Please leave me a comment or send me an email at:  moremilestones(at)yahoo

Again, thanks so much, my bloggy buddies!  Have a great day!!

I was looking for a blender I could leave on the counter. Something not huge but something I could get more than 6oz from.

Regular size blender – too big. The Bullet Blender – too small – and way too many pieces.

While at my local Meijer store, I browsed through the tons of different blenders.

I finally picked the Ninja Master Prep for $40.
Mine is silver.
It came with a Master Prep Pitcher (48oz), Master Prep Bowl (16oz), 2 sets of blades for each, lids for each and a Master Pod.

The Master Pod goes easily from the pitcher to the bowl – no cleaning. So you go from blending a drink to whipping up guacamole just by picking up the pod and placing from blender to bowl.

It crushes up ice so nice. Our 16yo has me making smoothies and shakes almost every day. It’s so much cheaper than going to a drive-thru and it makes me feel good that he still needs me…. So I’m NOT going to teach him how to do it himself… for awhile anyway.

The bowl is great for chopping up garlic, onions, tomatoes… whatever… quick, easy and no mess.

The pitcher stays on my counter with blades inside and pod on top ready to go. The Master Prep Bowl and lids take up very little room in my cupboard.

I’ve had the Ninja Master Prep for almost 3 months and I love it. My favorite part… it all goes in the dishwasher! Woo! Hoo!

You know... I love my Ninja so much, I just may move up to that bigger blender after all.

Our Favorite Smoothie:
Frozen Strawberries – about a 1.5 cup
Frozen Lemonade Concentrate – ¼ can
Apple Juice – splash or two
Ice Cubes – two or three

Blend it all up. YUM!!!

Gman likes it with a splash or two of vodka… that works too.

Please Note:  I was not paid to show my Ninja love.

Questions:
     1. What feature of the opposite sex do you notice first?
It's a tie:  eyes and lips

     2. Do you talk to yourself?
Almost too much... Embarrassing to say I sometimes do it at work ((( blushing ))).  Not really talking mostly whispering.

     3. What is your current relationship status?
Married for almost 16 yrs - together for over 20.  We've hit a bump but we've hit them before so I'm trying not to let it get me down.

     4. Do you have a garden?
Nope but it's on my list of things to do when my nest is empty.

     5. What is your favorite licorice flavor?
Red Twizzlers - love them!  My favorite movie snack.

My parents divorced when I was seven... although they still couldn't decide whether or not they wanted to be together.... which meant moving back and forth from state to state, school to school.

Through all that, my dad stayed in contact.  It wasn't easy back in the day... before Facebook, blogs, the Internet and cell phones.  Still, somehow, we always knew he loved us.

It would have been easy for him to turn his back and never look back but he didn't.

Dad, thanks for being there and thanks for all your advice

Love you, Dad!

Our last day of school before summer vacation was last week.
It’s always bitter sweet. It’s sad seeing our 5th graders for the last time – knowing next school year they will be in a different building. It’s also REALLY busy – printing certificates, finishing and packing away all the paperwork from the year. Packing away all my junk (as I never know if there will be a job for me in the fall).

Then the bell rings and the students leave with smiles on their faces and long summer days on their minds.

Working with children does warm my heart … and make me miss those times with my boys.

It always makes me feel good when a middle / high schooler see me – at work or in town – and stop me to say “hi”. If you’ve ever worked or lived with one of these creatures you know how gross it is for them to talk to an old person. So when they go out of their way to stop me… it really feels good.

There is zero job security. No chance I’ll ever have an overflow of $$$ in the bank.

Still, I do work with some really great people (2 or 3 not so great) and have the best boss ever.... but I wouldn't mind having that cash problem.

I had a dentist that I trusted and loved. He was super awesome, gentle and really funny. He and the other professionals in the office would carry on a conversation (always great ones) throwing you a yes/no question to make you feel part of the fun.
He always asked you how you were doing and let you know what he was doing – or going to do.

I was really sad when he died unexpectedly. Not only was he such a sweet man but he was the best dentist, irreplaceable.

So I finally get over (kinda sorta) my dentist fear and head on into a new office. An office full of women, moms, grandmothers. These chicks gotta be the gentle sort right? WRONG!
The hygienist was nice enough but she kept hitting my teeth with her shiny silver mirror thingy. I swear I thought she was going to knock one out! She also kept asking me to swallow – GROSS!! Use the sucky sucky thing… Please!

Then the dentist came in – no mask, chewing gum with her mouth flapping open. No shit! CHEWING GUM!!! WITH – HER – MOUTH – OPEN!!! She actually spit in my face 3 times! No excuse – as she was clearly in her late 50’s and she should know better.

She wasn’t much better with the tools either. She kept pinching my lip up against my teeth, making me bite myself. She would then plop them on my chest – come on Lady! That shit is just rude!

Needless to say, I’m pretty disappointed… and I’m still looking for someone to replace Mr. Irreplaceable.

It’s been proven Casey Anthony is a liar:

• She said she didn’t know where her daughter, Caylee, was.  Lie – she now says the toddler died in the family pool – probably a lie too.

• She said Zanny, the nanny, had the 2 year old.  Lie – It’s been proven that Zanny the nanny never existed.

• Casey said the only reason she was doing the club thing was to find leads on Caylee.  Lie – She knew the whole time where that little girl was.

• She had the police take her to Universal Studios (I can’t remember why).  Crazy Ass Lie – She either never worked there or hadn’t worked there in a very long time.

• She had police take her to a building she said the nanny lived.  Lie – It was a retirement home and the nanny never existed.

Defense team says:
• There’s no way to prove the dead body of the two year old was ever in Casey’s car.
• No DNA to prove who put tape on Caylee’s mouth.
• No way to tell who was searching “how to make chloroform”, "Zenaida-Fernandez Gonzalez " (fake nanny name), etc. using the family computer.

While watching the Today Show (Meredith Vieira’s last day – I’ll miss you Meredith. Congrats Ann Curry – Love you!)…

Anyway, these attorneys were talking about how this story (Caylee’s body being found in the family pool by George Anthony) could be a planned defense by the team and family. Casey Anthony blames her dad, George Anthony. George blames Casey. Each creating “reasonable doubt” and they both stay out of jail.

All this talk of reasonable doubt has me wanting to scream.

Common sense says Casey Anthony is a liar.

Casey knew her daughter was dead and yet she didn’t grieve. She went out living it up.

Why? Because she was happy, relieved, free. Not sad. Not remorseful. Not broken, in pieces on the floor.

Instead Casey acted like someone hiding a crime – telling lies, putting blame on others (her dad made her cover up Caylee’s death).  Making excuses (molested by dad and brother).

She wasn’t the only person ever molested. I was molested too. I didn’t kill my kids. (more on that later… maybe)

I don’t like her father, George Anthony, but I don’t think there is proof that he knew anything about little Caylee’s death. We don’t know his actions during that 30 day period. Only Cindy Anthony, his wife, can think back and recall if he was acting differently.

Cindy Anthony’s 911 call proves she did not know her granddaughter was dead (at the time). She wouldn’t have mentioned her daughter’s car or it smelling as if a “dead body” had been in it.  Did she know after?  I think she knows the real truth now.

I think Caylee's dead body was in Casey's car - even Cindy knows that (deep down inside).

I also believe that Casey put the tape on Caylee's mouth while she was still alive.  There was also a sticker on the tape over the mouth - I can't imagine anyone taking the time to put a sticker on the tape... except a mom who felt bad about putting the tape on in the first place.

Searches on the family computer - I think were done by Casey Anthony.  No one else lied about having known this "Zanny" woman.  Chloroform was found in Casey's car.

They better put this scumbag in jail. At the very least she has admitted to knowing her daughter was dead and covering it up.

Kit Kat

2. Do you "read" in the bathroom?
No

3. I can't stand when someone _________?

Sunday, June 5, 2011

I’m sure by now you all know Casey Anthony. She’s the 25 year old mom whose 2 year old daughter was missing 30 days before she was reported as missing.  Casey said her baby was with the nanny. Months later, the toddler was found in the woods – a 5 minute walk from her home.

It was Casey’s mom, Cindy Anthony, who called 911 to finally report her granddaughter missing; Casey’s car smelling as if there had been a “dead body” in it.

Months later, everything Casey said has been proven to be a lie. No nanny. No looking for Caylee – she was dead and Casey knew it.

Now, in court, the defense team claims that when Casey was 8 years old her father, George Anthony, came into her room and began to touch her inappropriately. It later escalated. They also claim that it was George who found little Caylee’s body in the family pool and forced Casey into a cover up.

Accident or not, the last thing I would be thinking of is hanging out living it up with friends. I would need to be knocked out and heavily medicated to get through that kind of loss.
Pictures of Casey, just hours and days after Caylee was already dead, show the mom laughing and looking relaxed.  Not a worry.

Not a mom who will never hug her baby girl again. Not a mom who is thinking of her baby girl at all.

Being a Mommy is the most important part of my life and the only thing I'm naturally good at.

As my babies began leaving the nest, I began falling apart.  I started feeling sad and empty for the way my life had been when I was their entire world.

Soon our youngest will be ready to fly off too.  Am I ready?  NO!

My soul has never been more at peace then when Gman and both my birdies were safe at home, together in our sweet little nest.  I don't think I will ever feel that wonderful fullness in my heart again.
To keep from being dragged off to the looney bin, I started making a list.  A list of things to focus on when my nest is empty.  I'm hoping by focusing on something new I won't be swallowed up by my heartbreak.

So, for now, my Empty Nest List includes the following:
  • Learn to sew
  • Learn to garden
  • Read more books
  • Crochet more
  • Follow more Green ideas
  • Keep trying to get healthy and lose weight
  • Scan and organize my ton of pictures
  • Start a compost
  • Sort through important paperwork
  • Continue to blog about it all
Will it fill up my heart?  No.  But I hope it will keep me busy.... and away from that padded room.

Thursday, June 2, 2011

I don’t know what’s going on or even when it happened.

Everything was great. I was happy with my little family. Our home was full of laughter and fun. Gman and I were happy. We have financial problems and yes, we’ve had our ups and downs but who doesn’t.
Now M has moved on and out. I know that’s what my birdies are supposed to do - I’ve been getting them ready for it since the day they were born.

C is ending another school year. He’ll be a junior next year, which only reminds me that he'll soon be moving on and out too.

Gman stopped wearing his wedding ring for awhile. Although, he’s back to wearing it, I still feel a distance between us.

We don’t spend ANY time together. I work. He works. Now that GOTR is over his softball season has begun. We don’t even watch the same stuff on TV. He parks it in front of the big screen watching American Idol, Glee, baseball, Rules of Engagement… I’m in the bedroom watching Survivor, Dancing with the Stars, Biggest Loser and Vampire Diaries

He loves everything outdoors. Heat and humidity are my #1 migraine trigger.

He drinks. I can’t drink anymore – another migraine trigger.

I could go on and on but you get the idea.

Bottom line… What the hell happened?
I've met so many great bloggers through this hop. Hop on in and meet some bloggy buddies too.

Please leave me a comment if you choose to follow me - I follow back.

The Big Chill (movie) is a huge hit from 1983 and stars many great actors - William Hurt, Glenn Close, Kevin Kline, Jeff Goldlum, Tom Berenger, Meg Tilly, Jobeth Williams, Mary Kay Place. It’s about a bunch of friends who get together after a friend dies.

I was 13 when this movie came out and so not interested in seeing a movie about a bunch of old people dancing around to old people music.

This weekend, I see The Big Chill on my Dish guide playing on Encore – Encore was having a "Big 80’s Weekend".

I decided to dvr it. What can I say, I’m a sucker for classic movies.
When I finally got the chance to watch, I noticed something weird. These people were not the “old” people I remember at all. They were actually only in their late 30’s/early 40’s.

WOW!!!! Crazy how 28 years can change your perspective.

Oh, and by the way, the music… CLASSIC.
