Is This What Happens When You Age?

Have you seen the commercials for the Toyota Venza?  I think they're pretty funny.  One is with a girl who set up her parents up on Facebook.  They only have 19 friends and she has over 600.  She feels bad for them.  She's at home on Facebook and they are out living it up in their Toyota Venza.

The second (below) is about a college guy who comes to live back home.  He has to make his own meal because his mom went to bed early.  Meanwhile, his parents are really out with another couple in their Toyota Venza.  They have the radio on, laughing, singing, having a blast.

It caught my attention because as you know, we have a 19yo college student.  It also caught my ear as I heard the music these "old people" were enjoying.  It's Let's Go by The Cars.  Love The Cars. (another song, You Might Think, also below)

Then the college guy says, "Is this what happens when you age?"

I about shit myself!  Age!  I'm not THAT old.  Then I remembered..

The time I went through some journals.  One entery was about my aunt having a baby.  At the time she was 30 and I wrote how I could NOT imagine ever being THAT old.

Funny, I'm now 40 and I don't feel THAT old.  (I also sometimes think about having another baby... just for a little bit)

Our 16yo says, "But, Mom, you are old".... What can you do?  ((( smiles )))

Those commercials totally crack me up! I remember thinking that 30 was really old, and now here I am - only a year and a half away from 30. Still single and childless. Who would have thought?!? ;)

I haven't seen those adverts but they sound fantastic, especially the one when the daughter is home on facebook and the parents are whizzing around in their gorgeous car! Hee Hee! Gosh, if you're old, then I must be well and truly over the hill!!!

I laughed so hard the first time I saw the second commercial with the college guy you mentioned! Too funny! The other one is great, too. Don't worry- 40 isn't THAT old! I'll be there soon enough... only 15 years to go.

@ SIF - I had kids very early. Many people I know barely have kids in elementary. It will happen.

@ Thisisme - I'd like to see one of your commercials.

@ FiveFootMamma - from 4'11" mamma. 40 isn't that bad.

@ JennyWoolf - I didn't even think of that but you're probably right.

@ GuitarTrump - aaww the 80's!
