Everyone Does It

A few years ago, I worked with a woman who would always say, “I never lie”.

That in itself is the biggest lie.

She said it often.  I was annoyed each and every time.

Everyone lies. Everyone.

Someone close to you is ill or you’re ill, someone asks you how you’re doing and you say… “Fine”. LIE.

You have diarrhea and can’t make it into work. Do you really tell them you have diarrhea? No? Lie.

You get in a fight with your significant other then run into that snooty bitch from high school. When she asks you how you both are doing are you really going to tell her? No? Another lie.

The dental hygienist asked me how often I floss. “About 3 times a week”, I answered. Lie. It’s really only about once to twice a week… four on rare occasion. I would like to do it once a day but ….

Big or small a lie is a lie.  We don't like it but we all do it.

Oh, btw, sometime after one of her “I never lie” declarations, that co-worker admitted that she lied to her husband about how much money she had. I questioned her about this going against her No Lie policy (so ballsy of me, I really don’t call people out like that at all). Her answer, “Oh, well, that was just to him.” …. Honey, that’s still a lie.

I’ll tell you the truth. I have not told one lie today… but then again, I haven’t left the house yet.

Good post and you are so right. We all lie, even if they are only little white lies! Bit stupid of that lady you work with to say that she never does lie. DOH! Good for you for picking her up on that particular one!!

She contradicted herself many times but I just didn't say anything...I must have been having one of those days.
I'm not saying it's a good thing, just saying we all do it... maybe not Casey Anthony style but we all do it.

Kind of wonder why she was feeling the need to stress her policy of 'no lying" Just makes you wonder???

LOL! I love your post. I think it would be hilarious to start a blog just sharing one lie a day. :)

@ Jenilee - Thanks much. I believe He is always trying to lead us down the right path. It's just a matter of listening.

@ Angela - Glad it worked. It took me FOREVER to find that super easy fix.

@ Katie - It's now 10:30pm - still no lie. Pretty good, huh? Although, I'm sure I could come up with a lie a day. ; )

Nice one Mona! Good for you on calling this one. While we "try not to lie" sometimes it's just necessary. Telling someone you have diarrhea would be offering way too much info, not to mention the obvious!

And what about, "that's just him"... Just him like he's nobody just the person I made a vow to. Was that a lie?

@ Kim Bee - Thanks for the follow. I'll be stopping by your blogs.

@ Kathy - funny, I'm more honest with my husband than anyone.
