Girls on the Run

Our school participates in GOTR.  (Training with girls to run a 5k)  We have always had 3 teams.  This year we had more girls than usual take an interest in the program.  In order not to turn any girls away more woman were needed to coach.

I'm not a girl.  I don't even have any girls.  I DON'T run ... still, I decided to jump on in and become a coach.

WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!

I have barely just started to walk.  I know ZERO about coaching ANYTHING.  I'm not a teacher.  I know NOTHING about pre-teen girls...... and really, how the heck am I going to walk (because I know I'm not running) a 5K - Before being approached for this I didn't even know what a 5K was.

As usual, I try to look on the bright side of things:
  • There are 3 coaches to each team of girls - This kinda takes the pressure off a bit.
  • Having worked in the school for many years I've gotten to know these girls.
  • When you are open to Him, the Lord takes you were you need to be.
  • Who knows, maybe I'll lose a few pounds along the way.
Wish me luck!

Actually, this is kind of inspiring for an armchair cheerleader like me so hats off to you for jumping in with both feet and I bet both you and the girls will be better for it! Can't wait to hear about the progress.
